European Commission Extends Implementation Period for Deforestation Regulation

鈩癸笍 The European Commission has proposed a 馃憠 one-year delay in the implementation of the law banning the import of commodities linked to deforestation (EU Deforestation Regulation, EUDR) in response to calls from international partners who indicated the need for additional time to prepare for the implementation of the new law.
鈻讹笍 If the Commission’s proposal is approved by the European Parliament and the Council, the new deadlines for the EUDR will be as follows:
馃搯 December 30, 2025 for large companies
馃搯 June 30, 2026 for micro- and small enterprises
鈻讹笍 Additionally, the Commission has published detailed guidelines to assist companies and enforcement authorities in interpreting and applying the EUDR regulations. The guidelines cover aspects such as the functioning of the information system, penalties, and definitions of key concepts, including „forest degradation.”
