▶️ On December 16, 2022, the Council of the European Union adopted a regulation temporarily suspending duties on urea and ammonia. The EU fertilizer industry expresses dissatisfaction with the above.
➡️ As stated in the regulation in Annex I to Regulation (EEC) No 2658/87, the following changes are introduced:
? In Part Two, Section VI, Chapter 28, the text regarding CN code 2814 10 00 in column 3 (’Conventional customs duty (%)’) shall read as follows: „5.5 (*1)
(*1) Duty autonomously suspended for a period of 6 months starting from December 16, 2022, except for Russia and Belarus, where the rate is 5.5%, in accordance with Council Regulation (EU) 2022/2465.”;
? In Part Two, Section VI, Chapter 31, the text regarding CN codes 3102 10 10 and 3102 10 90 in column 3 (’Conventional customs duty (%)’) shall read as follows: „6.5 (*2)
(*2) Duty autonomously suspended for a period of 6 months starting from December 16, 2022, except for Russia and Belarus, where the rate is 6.5%, in accordance with Council Regulation (EU) 2022/2465.”.
➡️ By May 17, 2023, the Commission shall draw up and submit to the Council a report assessing the consequences of the suspension of duties specified in this Regulation. Based on this report, the Commission shall, where appropriate, submit a legislative proposal to extend this suspension of duties.
➡️ The regulation shall enter into force on the day following its publication in the Official Journal of the European Union. It shall cease to apply on June 17, 2023.
